You Can Have Mental and Emotional Health

Dr. O. F. Gober was one of the medical executives of the Santa Fe railroad. He said, “75% of all patients who come to doctors could cure themselves if they only got rid of their fears and worries.” He went on to say, “ Fear causes worry, worry makes you tense and nervous and affects the nerves of your stomach and changes the gastric juices of your stomach from normal to abnormal and often leads to stomach ulcers.”

Our thoughts produce our emotions which drain back into our bodies for good or bad. With so much evidence at hand, how can we cooperate with God to bring about health and wellness?
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 talks about three things. Thoughts, imagination, and strongholds. Thoughts, thought upon become images or pictures in our mind which after time take a stronghold of our life, meaning that they pull us in their direction for good or bad. Romans 12:1 LV translation says, “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

The more we become aware of our thoughts and realize their influence in our lives the more we will become selective of what we think. Remove daily thoughts of unforgiveness, bitterness, fear, worry, critical attitudes and thoughts of complaining and fault finding. As these things are removed and replaced with thoughts of faith, hope, promise, kindness, enthusiasm, and excitement we will then begin to feel a spirit of strength, health, energy, and vitality returning. I challenge you to start today, discipline your mind to think wholesome, uplifting thoughts all day and see the difference.

We have put together a series of messages on this subject that will help bring about health emotionally. Download my series, “The Mind, Mental and Emotional Health.”
